This from Janine's profile: "I am Janine Maves, a professional artist who has studied all over US, earned a B.A. in art, and worked as a graphic artist. I've been a silk painter for over 20 years. My items are made one at a time - each is unique. The process of making silk paintings is both meditative and spontaneous: it's mesmerizing to touch the paintbrush to silk and watch the color flow, but you've got to stay on your toes: there's no stepping back! I love what I do and find that ideas for the next project arise while I'm working. I am a member of Silk Painters International, Surface Design Association, BBEST, Freethinkers, and Triangle Area Street Teams. I've participated in many juried shows for both crafts and art.
In addition to silk painting, I make assemblages (three dimensional collages), silkscreen, paint on canvas, do some metal work, and make jewelry. I'd rather be in my studio than any place else."
Also an Etsy seller, I met Janine or "Dawg" as I call her, in the Boomer's Team (BBEST) thread in the forums on the Etsy.com website. Janine's work amazes me. When I think of painting on silk it conjures up pictures of painting on water. The thought of losing control over what I am drawing or painting, is somewhat scary. But it looks like Janine has mastered this! Her many genres of art are something to be admired. She is a talented woman who you don't want to miss out on.
