I took this photograph a few years ago at the Kansas City Zoo of all places, on our way to Tucson, Az. We traveled with a friend of my fiancee's and her granddaughter, taking with us, our then 8 year old son.
I found this an odd place to have a statue of Hotei (or as some call him "Buddha", but never-the-less, found it a surprising inspiration.
During our visit to the KC Zoo, I also stumbled upon some statues of horses made from pieces of what looked like, drift wood. Have any of y0u seen this truly beautiful work?
The artist has captured the essence of these glorious animals and I am totally blown away by this!
Just thought I would give a little glimpse into some of the things that inspire me that are not COLOR, or southwestern!
